Champions for Children Annual Membership
Do you believe that every child deserves a safe and healthy childhood?
There are over 36,000 cases child abuse every year in Minnesota. Along with being impacted by abuse, children are also dealing with severe mental health issues including anxiety, worry and thoughts of suicide.
We need to work together to improve the well-being of Minnesota's children and to do that we need to come together to learn about the impact of childhood trauma and work together to prevent it.
When you become a Champion for Children you are supporting child abuse response services and prevention work through outreach, education, awareness and participation in CornerHouse’s signature events.
Your involvement will include:
Networking events with CornerHouse staff members and industry experts to better understand the industry and how you can make an impact
Access to prevention training to help spread community-wide abuse awareness and response information through the CornerHouse Conversations.
Tools and resources to become a Child Safety Ambassador in the community, along with the empowerment to make a difference
Resource drives and volunteer opportunities to provide support networks for families in need.
Invitation to participate in CornerHouse signature events at a discounted rate to increase support for children and families
Opportunities to influence leaders and policy-makers to address the long-term impact of abuse on individuals, families, and communities
Recognition as business dedicated to keeping kids safe on the CornerHouse website, annual report, directory, and other materials

CornerHouse Conversations
Prevention Training to Keep Kids Safe
This series is designed for anyone with exposure to children - from coaches and teachers to grandparents and community members - we all have children in our lives that we want to keep safe from abuse. Each event will cover a different topic from an industry expert about child safety and teach you what the warning signs are and how to intervene.

Recognizing and Protecting Youth from On-Line Exploitation
Although we think it can’t happen in our communities, recent headlines report otherwise, "FBI says there may be 1,000 victims in St. Paul man's sextortion case". On-line exploitation of youth is real and not an isolated incident. Authorities have identified at least 1,000 victims of just one offender living in Minnesota.
As adults it is imperative for us to understand grooming behaviors that are meant to harm youth, recognize behaviors in young people that may indicate distress and most importantly take measures to intervene and support youth when they may find themselves in an overwhelming situation.
Offenders count on adults NOT to be informed. Offenders thrive on the stress and isolation that youth feel in these situations. Unfortunately, many of the “offenders” are youth themselves. Young people need adults who will have courageous conversations regarding internet use/misuse, exploitation and how to solve a problem that may think is unfixable. We never want a young person to feel that they are alone or in a situation that cannot be improved.
